Healthy Habits

Having concluded our series in James we will now turn our attention back one book to Hebrews, chapters 12 and 13. This weekend we will begin a new preaching series entitled ‘Healthy Habits’ covering topics such as our ‘focus’ in life; ‘discipline’; ‘home life’ and ‘leadership’ in the Church.

This will be followed up with a series entitled, ‘Body, Mind, Spirit’ where we carry on the theme of developing healthy habits physically, mentally, socially, emotionally and spiritually. Over the next few weeks can I encourage YOU to seek God in the realm of YOUR personal health and well-being and most importantly your relationship with Him and others (Matthew 22:37-40) which, after all, when all is said and done is the ‘greatest’ instruction Jesus ever gave.

Alpha Registration Update

Alpha is for anyone wanting to explore the meaning of life.

Monday Morning Walking Group
Let’s go for a walk! We’ll be meeting at 6.45am Monday mornings outside the Reject Shop at the new Highlands Shopping Centre and walking or jogging til 7.45am. Come along and enjoy the company while we get some exercise. We will be leaving at 6.50am sharp.

Please do not feel alone in any life problems that you may be experiencing. We have a team who would love to pray with you, no matter what challenge you are facing.

You can either write your prayer request on a communication card from the Info Desk or meet with a prayer team member who will be waiting at the front of the auditorium after each service. You can also make a prayer request at the website or by email because we care.

This week we complete our series in James!

I’ve been preaching through James since the middle of August last year. So far we have discovered:
• James knew that ‘trials’ of many kinds would come our way
• James knew that some of these trials would test our ‘faith’
• James knew that ‘testing’ would produce perseverance
• AND James knew that not everyone would ‘persevere’ through this testing

James is reaching out to his readers and pleading with them to put their trust in God! As we approach our last reading (James 5:7-20), I want to encourage us to do likewise. A couple of weeks ago someone had a God-given revelation in prayer of the desperate nature of people who were hungry for food in the midst of their poverty and starvation. And God said:

‘This is the hunger and the thirsting I want to see at Crossway North for Me and My presence; an absolute desperateness; a matter of life and death; that doesn’t care what others think; that is too desperate to be proud; that just knows that they need Me or they will perish, that seeks Me above all else.”

Leadership Training – This Sunday!!
Leadership Training begins this Sunday. If you would like to attend and have not registered, it is not too late! Please email Brett before Sunday or talk to him after the service if you would like to attend. The course will be held on Sunday afternoons from 4 til 5.30pm. The topics we will be covering include servant leadership, the calling and character of leaders, the visionary leader, making disciples, multiplying disciples and the value of teamwork. There’s a lot going on at Crossway North this weekend!

• Our Youth are gathering together on camp at Phillip Island.

• Our 21 days of prayer, fasting and devotion concludes.

• We have a guest speaker, Scott Morrison, at Crossway North.

• A number of our folk are interacting with folk at the Craigieburn Festival.

Let’s cover all these matters in prayer.

It would also be worth noting the need to pray for our Leaders in Government – amongst all the political wrangling and intrigue let’s pray God will arise!
