There’s a lot going on at Crossway North this weekend!

• Our Youth are gathering together on camp at Phillip Island.

• Our 21 days of prayer, fasting and devotion concludes.

• We have a guest speaker, Scott Morrison, at Crossway North.

• A number of our folk are interacting with folk at the Craigieburn Festival.

Let’s cover all these matters in prayer.

It would also be worth noting the need to pray for our Leaders in Government – amongst all the political wrangling and intrigue let’s pray God will arise!

Awakening 2012: 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting – Last Days!!
As we near the end of our 21 days of prayer, fasting and personal devotion, let’s continue to fervently press into God during these last few days.

Leadership Training – New Time!
We have pushed back the Leadership Training Course for a week. The course will now start next Sunday, the 4th of March. There is still time to register if you are interested. The course will be held on Sunday afternoons from 4 til 5.30pm. The topics we will be covering include servant leadership, the calling and character of leaders, the visionary leader, making disciples, multiplying disciples and the value of teamwork. Youth Alpha Launch Party
IGNITE Youth will be having a Youth Alpha Launch Party next Friday, the 4th of March. We’ll be starting at 7.30pm at the Craigieburn Youth Centre, on Craigieburn Road (behind the library.) Please think about who you can bring to this great event. Contact Paul Davidson for more details!

Alpha Registration
Alpha will be starting Wednesday the 7th of March. Please register for Alpha here. Alpha is an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith. It is a place where answers to key questions of life can be discovered through discussion and relationship, and where your faith can develop at your own pace. Alpha is for anyone wanting to explore the meaning of life.

Monday Morning Walking Group
Let’s go for a walk! We’ll be meeting at 6.45am Monday mornings outside the Reject Shop at the new Highlands Shopping Centre and walking or jogging til 7.45am. Come along and enjoy the company while we get some exercise. We will be leaving at 6.50am sharp.

The Hub is a new monthly event for anyone between 25-35 who wants to come along and connect with others. The next meeting will be on Thursday the 1st of March from 7.30pm. IGNITE Youth are camping! This weekend the youth are on camp at Phillip Island. As such, there is no regular meeting this week. Ignite meets on Friday nights during the School term. Our next meeting will be on Friday the 2nd of March from 7.30 til 9pm at the Craigieburn Youth Centre, Craigieburn Rd (behind the Library).

Awake!

“7 My heart, O God, is steadfast,

God is at work amongst us in our 21 days of prayer, fasting and devotion (‘Awakening’).

There have been breakthroughs and many answers to prayer in our midst. I hope you’re
not missing out.

Why not come along this week to one of our many prayer meetings – some of them are new this year and God is in the midst!

Awakening 2012: 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting
Awakening is a 21 day season of prayer, fasting and personal devotion from February 5^th to 25^th, 2012. The goal of Awakening is for the Crossway North Community to come together to pray, fast & seek God at the onset of the year for revival in our personal lives, for the lives of those around us, for our local community and beyond.

The National Day of Prayer – This Sunday
Sunday is the National Day of Prayer. We will be joining in this event as part of our Awakening: 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting. Come prepared to pray and intercede for our renewal and transformation of Australia as a nation with other Churches.

Discover Membership
If you would like to come into Membership at Crossway North, our next meeting is planned for February 21st. We’re meeting for coffee and dessert from 7.30 til 9.30pm. Please email Brett if you would like to come along.

Leadership Training
Our next Leadership Training Course will be held on Sunday afternoons from 4 til 5.30pm between February 26th and April 1st. The topics we will be covering include servant leadership, the calling and character of leaders, the visionary leader, making disciples, multiplying disciples and the value of teamwork. IGNITE Youth are going camping! Can you help?
Let’s be praying for the youth and the leaders who will be heading off to Philip Island for the Ignite camp from the 24th til the 26th of February. Let’s Pray!

The Lord has been reminding me this week that it’s all about the heart.

Last week, we spoke about ‘Vision’ for 2012 and launched 21 days of prayer, fasting and devotion – today we’re going to discuss how we’re going to finance the Vision.

Last year, we employed our Associate Pastor in a step of faith; this year, we’re seeking Independence from Crossway AND putting forward an expression of interest into our Local Council for the lease of the old Library. We can’t afford all of that, however I believe God can make a way … and He will speak to our hearts!

2 Corinthians 9:7 states: ‘Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver’.

Let’s Pray!

Traditionally, we call the first Sunday in February ‘Launch Sunday’ (5th). This year we will celebrate and look forward to everything God has in store for us in 2012. That weekend also marks the opportunity to participate in 14 days of prayer and fasting. There will be literature available on how to best be involved in this significant time of seeking God at the Newcomers desk on Sunday.

This year we hope to grow further and deeper in God’s plans for us however, to see that happen we must pray. Please join with me in pressing into God at this time of ‘awakening’ for Crossway North and the communities in which we live.

Crossway North is growing up! We’re planning to constitute as a Baptist Church in our own right in 2012. Toward that end our members will be invited to vote on this proposal, the adoption of our Church Rules and a Leadership Team (Board). This Special meeting will be called on February 5th 2012, with the opportunity to discuss these matters at one of two ‘Consultations’ planned for Wednesday night January 25th and/or Sunday afternoon, January 29th. Stay tuned for more information.

Crossway North Awakening 2021

Over the past three Sundays we have heard three challenging messages from Barrie Watkins, Richard Kolega & Lindy Wilson. If you have missed some of the messages, can I encourage you to listen to them, when available, on the Crossway North website podcasts. I believe the messages have been God inspired and are a definite Word from God for our Church Community, as we move into 2012. Here is a summary of the main verses:

Mark 12:30-31: We need to step up and live out our “Purpose & Destiny in God” individually, and then as a community. To do this we need the Holy Spirit to help us “Love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength”. Everything of worth in our lives comes out of this.

James 2:23 & Rev 3:20: To do this we need to evaluate our personal intimate relationship with God, with Jesus as our example. Jesus did nothing without spending time with His Heavenly Father first; making sure that was the greatest priority in His life. If Jesus needed this, how much more do we?

Luke 9:23-24 & Eph 2:13: Some of us are spiritually numb (under Spiritual Anesthesia) and we need “Awakening” from this. It is time to “Wake up”, “Feel Him”, “Know Him” & “Experience Him”, everyday in our lives. This means surrendering control to God, dying to ourselves, and following Jesus daily, not just sometimes.

Ephesians 1:17-23: Can I encourage you to pray this prayer for yourself everyday during the next month (at least) and allow the Holy Spirit to make it real for you, where you are at right now. Pray also that our Church community will grasp the truth contained in these verses & we will live this out in 2012. Ask God: “help me to Love You with all my heart, all my soul, all my mind, & all my strength” every day.

Hebrews 12:1-2: I believe that 2012 is an important year for Crossway North. I feel we are in danger of being “religious” rather than being “followers of Jesus” who put Him first in all that we do. We need to, as individuals & a community, “throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles…and fix our eyes on Jesus, the Author & perfecter our faith”. What do we need to “throw off”?

A Caring Community

Please do not feel alone in any life problems that you may be experiencing. We have a team who would love to pray with you, no matter what challenge you are facing.

You can either write your prayer request on a communication card from the Info Desk or meet with a prayer team member. They will be waiting at the front of the auditorium after each service.

There is also the ability to make a prayer request from the website or you can email prayer@crosswaynorth.org.au because We Care.

January 2012

This January…

We have the joy of hearing from three very different people throughout our first three weeks of January: Barrie Watkins (1st), Richard Kolega (8th), and Lindy Wilson (15th). The one thing they do have in common is their love for Jesus – you will not want to miss out on what God says to us through them this holiday season!

We also plan to keep our Christmas appeal (also tax deductible – envelopes are available at
the Welcome desk) open throughout this time so that we all have the opportunity to make a gift to support the work of Samaritan’s Purse in South East Asia providing nutritional support for children of the Red River Class Project. Please keep praying about how much you might contribute!

Crossway North is growing up! We’re planning to constitute as a Baptist Church in our own right in 2012. Toward that end our members will be invited to vote on this proposal, the adoption of our Church Rules and a Leadership Team (Board). This Special meeting will be called on February 5th 2012, with the opportunity to discuss these matters at one of two ‘Consultations’ planned for Wednesday night January 25th and/or Sunday afternoon, January 29th.
