Life @ Crossway North

 Sunday 8th April, 2012

Philip was young boy with Down Syndrome. He was a pleasant child and went to Sunday School with nine other eight year old boys and girls. In spite of being different, Philip did his best to fit in with the class.

For the Sunday prior to Easter, Philip’s Sunday School teacher had a marvellous idea for his class. Each child was given a plastic Easter egg and was told to go outside and find a symbol of new life, put it in the egg and come back to the classroom. All the eggs were put on the table and, one by one, the teacher opened them. One contained a flower, one a butterfly and another a leaf. Then one was opened and to the surprise of the class there was nothing in it. The children laughed and some said how stupid it was.

At that point Philip stood up and said, “That’s mine”. “You don’t ever do things right, Philip”, the children said. “That’s not fair”, said Philip. “It’s empty because Jesus’ tomb was empty”.

There was silence and from that time on, things were different. Philip suddenly became part of the group. They now accepted him. Not long after that, Philip died from an infection that most children could have quickly shrugged off.

At his funeral, nine eight year old children together with their Sunday School teacher marched up to the altar of the Church and laid on it an empty egg – an empty, old, discarded plastic egg.

Please be praying for Cooper, Lyn Worley’s grandson, who is in the Children’s Hospital and in need of a liver transplant. Please also be praying for his parents, Michael and Belinda, during this time.

Easter Sunday Prayer Walk
Crossway North and our Church Planting Team, Praxeis, are holding a Prayer Walk. Meeting at Marguerite’s, we’ll be going from 2 til 5pm. Please come along as we pray around Broadmeadows.

Easter Life Celebration
Roxburgh Park Community Church are having fete on the Basketball Courts of Roxburgh Park Homestead Primary School from 1 til 4pm. Come along and celebrate Jesus’ resurrection.

Awakening 2012: Power Praying
Ever heard of Power Walking? Power Walking is rapid walking accompanied by vigorous swinging of the arms. It is designed to achieve maximum effect in a short period of time.
On Sunday we are launching Power Praying! Power Praying is fast, enthusiastic praying, designed for maximum effect, as the body of Christ are committed and unified to Power Pray each day.
It has been said that, “If you are too busy for God, you are too busy.” In the midst of our busyness let’s remember how much we need God. Let’s make prayer our daily practice in the hope it will become our ‘first resort’ rather than our last!
If you find it hard to attend a prayer meeting, then this is for you! Pray in the car, on the train, on your lunch break, waiting in line, or even in the bathroom!! Everyone can participate. A monthly prayer guide is available on request. Sign up today!

Kidspace and Youth Leaders BBQ
Are you interested in serving with our Kid’s and Youth Ministry? There is a BBQ for anyone interested in serving in Little Rockets, Kidspace or IGNITE Youth at 1pm on Sunday 29th April. If you’re interested in coming along, please RSVP to Paul Davidson by Sunday 22nd April for catering purposes.

IGNITE Youth Update!
IGNITE Youth will be moving to the Roxborough Park Youth Centre (75  Lakeside Drive) while the Craigieburn Youth Centre is renovated. IGNITE Youth are next meeting 7.30 pm, Friday 20th April.

Volunteers Needed!
We need your help please! Volunteers for setting up and packing up on a Sunday morning are desperately needed. If numerous people (especially guys) volunteered then the load could be spread out and shared. Right now the work is left to one or two regular helpers. Please consider making yourself available for to help. Email to office to sign up to help.

Alpha Registration Update
Alpha has been postponed until next term. We are still taking registrations. Please register for Alpha here. Alpha is an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith. It is a place where answers to key questions of life can be discovered through discussion and relationship, and where your faith can develop at your own pace. Alpha is for anyone wanting to explore the meaning of life.

Ignite meets on Friday nights during the School term. Our next meeting will be on Friday the 30th of March from 7.30 til 9pm at the Roxborough Youth Centre (75 Lakeside Drive) while the Craigieburn Youth Centre is being renovated.

The Hub is a new monthly event for anyone between 25-35 who wants to come along and connect with others. The next meeting will be on Saturday the 14th of April from 7.30pm. Pokits – Autism Parent Support Group

A Caring Community
Please do not feel alone in any life problems that you may be experiencing. We have a team who would love to pray with you, no matter what challenge you are facing.

You can either write your prayer request on a communication card from the Info Desk or meet with a prayer team member who will be waiting at the front of the auditorium after each service. You can also make a prayer request at the website or by email because we care.
